Living room window update

All the rain from two weeks back finally forced my hand to deal with the non-stop leaking window. I was expecting wood rot and water damage, and my expectations were met and exceeded. After stripping out water damaged plywood and soggy insulation and letting things dry out for a week, I put my game face on Friday morning and got to work:
Friday morning: start

Friday: look ma, no wall!
This is where I tell people a truck crashed into my house…

Friday: a 4 year old could have kicked this wall in
Friday was a demolition day, and then some bare minimum covering so our house wasn’t wide naked-ass open to the street

Friday: it took a long time to strip rotten wood and plaster and sheetrock...

Saturday’s goal was to frame/sheet the window rough opening and have it dried in with house wrap.

End of day 2- Woo Hoo!

Sunday was make-or-break. If the window gets in the opening and attached, everything is good:

Arch has been built to receive the top of the window.

Roydog Colglazier brought in some extra calvary, and we really still could have used one more person, which explains the lack of action shots. Scott, if you are reading this, thanks a ton!

The tired old bones appreciated a contemplative moment to admire the non-rotten wood of the window…

The window is fully nailed and flashing tape-e. Woo hoo!

A couple piece of sheetrock were put in place while the spirt was still willing…
