USA is the undisputed king in automobile consumption and almost every car maker in the world markets their cars in the United States. Almost. What about those car makers with a very small or a non-existant foothold in the US Market? Lots of neat little models out there not on US roads. Check them out via the wonder that is the internet- most sites in English:
This is by no means the entire list. Post your own favorite obscure-to-the-USA automaker!
- Korea: [GM Daewoo]
- Italy: [Fiat]
- Australia: [Holden]
- French [Citroen]
- French automaker [Renault]
- French automaker [Peugeot]
- [Opel (Vauxhall)]
- [Lada-AutoVAZ] is in what I presume is Russian. A little more helpful is [an English language page] with their car products. They also have some type of partnership with Spain, as their is a [Spanish version] available as well.
Good one. I don’t have any to add at the moment, but I’ll think about it. Another interesting aspect to this is the way automakers change their models depending on where they’re being sold. Like the Accord Honda sells in Europe is quite a bit different than the one they sell here. In fact, I think one of the Acura models is essentially a straight copy of the European Accord. When I was in Australia I noticed that even American automakers like Ford sold models over there that they don’t produce and sell in the U.S.
Was it the Ute, a funky, modern el-camino type thing?
It might have been the Ford Fairlane, which I think they used to make in the US. Looks like they also have one called the Falcon.
