Graydie Claire is 5!

Graydon turned 5 on the March 19th.  That fell in the middle of the week, so we low-keyed it and let her open presents:

Weather for our outdoor party was a bit windy and cold, so Jennifer switched gears and dolled up the dining room so that it was fit for a princess party:

Dragon pinata is about to get his 15 minutes of fame.  Princess Graydon gets the first whack at it, while cousin Princess RoRo, who came pre-dressed in princess regalia is waiting on deck:

Despite the sword being a decently heavy, solid wood project built by Gabe and his grandpa, the dragon took quite a licking and kept on ticking.

I am being completely serious when I say that practically everybody took a whack at this thing:

With a couple more good swings, Graydie was finally able to vanquish the surprisingly tough dragon pinata:

For Graydon’s party, invitees were asked to bring a can good or non-perishable food item.  {This was a fantastic idea- beats the heck out watching our normally sweet girl open a present, toss it aside and ask for the next one on a rinse and repeat cycle}

Graydon ended up with a basket full of food to take to the Foodbank, and Graydon’s already bursting toy bins were spared the agony of busting at the seams.  Wins all around:
