I did not care much for the song, but I am digging “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley. Soulful and inspired.
Did you guys ever catch the song The Seed 2.0 by The Roots and Cody Chestnutt? I think it was from 2002. No real comment other than the NPR song reminded me of two songs I liked better but are possibly part of the same family.
Actually, I bought the Roots album because of that song. I loved the guitar riff in it. The Toots & The Maytals “True Love” disc has a “Funky Kingstown” cover w/ the Roots and Bootsy Collins in it that is pretty good, too. I have been meaning to track down some Gnarls, thanks for getting it on my radar again.
LiveLaughF*ck is straight off Outkast’s The Love Below/Speakerboxx double-disco. I dig that track more than ” I love Boosters,” but I did find myself dipping my shoulders and sliding to the right of my chair whille listening to both.
Outkast and Prince, and I assume The Toots and The Maytals CD provided by projectx2005, are the funkiest I have in my collection. I try to seek out the soulful-rock tracks, but I have to work to hard to enjoy it- defeats the purpose.
Gnarls Barkley has provided me minutes of entertainment; my next step is to commit to buying the whole CD and truly giving in.
