DOGS day with Gabe
Another one from the phone. Also done one-handed in order to increase the degree of difficulty. And because Charlie Kate is taking up the other arm.
DOGS day is when a Dad comes into the school for a day. I ended up doing a little bit of everything- here Gabe and I helped out with the morning drop off line.

Pinnacle weekend
Few more pics from Pinnacle:
We combined a couple fun things in our trip to Pinnacle this past weekend. It was Jennifer’s first geocaching expedition. The kids aren’t necessarily old pros, but they both have been before, but this was the lovely wife’s first trip. Armed with the GPS, she ended up finding the cache, or more exactly, hinting and prompting the kiddos to discover the cache themselves.
Incidentally, this was an [excellent beginner’s cache]- fun location, easily found, easy to get to, tons of treasure.
We also had some kid friendly rock climbing/exploring expeditions:
And last, but not least, Charlotte made the trip. She pretty much slept the entire time, despite bouncing down paths and having the jogging stroller carried portage style multiple time to get around some large trees that had fallen in the path.

Mighty Mite!
I’m not talking about Charlie Kate (for this post, at least), but the new Roku 2 that just arrived on the doorstep today! We had great results cutting cable TV and using the [Roku] to stream- primarily Netflix and Pandora. We bought a second Roku in its newest incarnation to use with our other television. It is tiny!
The XS is the top tier model- the extras that made it logical for us were the Bluetooth remote and the ethernet port. Having Angry Birds on there seemed like no big deal, but my kids sured loved it.

Feeding time at Pinnacle Mountain
The family visited Pinnacle Mountain this past weekend, doing sorta stay-cation things. Just outside the visitor center is small butterfly garden along with flowers for the bees. Here’s a good shot- get clickedy for full size:

Baby Charlotte
Pics of Charlie have been a bit hard to come by. Here are a couple- composition is not so hot, but they are in focus, so let’s go with it. Our goal is to get a good shot of the entire baby. We’re working on it- stay tuned.

Stamped concrete patio
The Anderson estates, home of Little Chief Rocky Valley, got an upgrade.
As part of our plan to install a fence, we need to get our sidewalks right. That meant getting our sidewalks moved and widened before placing any gates. After looking at our options, we decided to go bigger than just sidewalks.
Concrete was poured…
set…
stamped…
and sealed!
The texture is very well defined. Missing from this post is the fossil details. After stamping the concrete, the finishers pressed in a few select leaves as fossil imprints. Fun little detail. I’ll post some closeups.
Now that the sidewalks are settled, a fence can be built. After the fence, we’ll make a big raised bed for a tree in that bare muddy spot, but in the meantime the kids like running with the other piece of drain.

Pilates studio
My sister in law moved her Pilates studio to a new location. The space lets in a lot of natural light. In the new space, the existing partitions were taken down and a one new one was added.
Fun pictures of the demolition have gone missing, unfortunately. I’ll add them in if I can track them down.
Mounting the springboards turned out to be an interesting challenge. The springboards are designed to mount on 16 inch centers. The target wall had steel studs at 24 inch centers. Final solution was to screw 3/4 inch plywood to the steel studs to provide a solid mounting surface for the springboards. I skinned the 3/4 plywood with birch plywood and milled the trim pieces with an emphasis on clean lines and a minimum of visible joints.

Here’s a shot with a bit different light:
This is a view on the other side of the studio from my work with the springboards- lots of light and equipment- makes for a very cool look:
